The City of Fredericton has once again donated unclaimed, lost, stolen and abandoned bicycles to community volunteer agencies for use by at-risk youth, the disadvantaged and vulnerable citizens.
This year's beneficiaries of the city's bicycles for the community program include: Chrysalis House, the Community Clinic, Liberty Lane, the YMCA and the Department of Social Development. More bicycles will be donated during the summer as they become available.
"We are pleased to support the community groups and agencies by providing bicycles for the use of their clients," said Coun. Steven Hicks, chairman of the city's community services committee. "Bikes for the community is a very popular program and these lost or unclaimed bicycles will be put to good use."
